College Essay Coaching

“Who are you?” In only 650 words? I know — it feels daunting.
But don’t panic: I’m here to make it much easier.

As an experienced college essay tutor based in NYC, I work one-on-one with students to help them uncover meaningful stories, organize their ideas, and craft a strong, authentic narrative.

This process isn’t just about writing a great essay — it’s also an opportunity for reflection and transformation. With guidance, structure, and support, your student will develop greater confidence in their voice and clarity in how they present themselves to admissions committees.

Discovering
Their Story

Initial Brainstorming & Topic Exploration

At this stage, I get to know each student through a thoughtful, in-depth conversation — learning about their life experiences, values, and visions for their future.

This helps us uncover strong potential topics for the Common App personal statement or other college admissions essays.

I then invite the student to explore a few ideas through short writing exercises, and we determine which stories feel most authentic and compelling.

2

Developing Their Narrative

Draft Development & Narrative Clarity

Once we’ve chosen the right topic, we begin shaping the structure of the essay together.

I guide students through outlining and drafting, helping them organize their thoughts and identify key moments that will bring their story to life.

This part of the process includes brainstorming, personalized feedback, and strategy to ensure the essay has a clear narrative arc, emotional depth, a strong opening hook, and powerful conclusion.

3

Refining Their Voice

Feedback, Edits &
Polishing

With a solid draft in place, we move into editing and revision.

I help students refine their writing over several rounds, strengthening clarity and flow while trimming excess to meet the word count.

The goal is always to elevate the student’s unique voice and confidence — and to make sure their final essay is authentic, clear, and compelling.

Bonus: Supplemental Essay Support

Once the Common Application essay is polished, we step away from it for a bit and pivot to the supplementary essays --  the additional essays required by each college--to help “fill in the gaps.”

This allows us to paint a more complete picture of the student. After these additional essays are finished, we return to the Common App essay for one final review and any necessary edits before submission.

Ethical Commitment Statement:

I help students find and develop their own voice, without the use of AI,  offering only my feedback, and never writing for them.
